Rep or Representative Soccer Program Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between house and competitive soccer league?
What is Representative or Rep Soccer?
Rep, or representative, soccer is the final step to complete the pyramid of play. Rep soccer teams compete in the SRSL (South Region Soccer league) if they win promotion from all of the SRSL soccer leagues. Playing Rep soccer is more of a commitment over playing select soccer. During the winter period rep teams will train at least once per week as well as entering tournaments. During the summer rep teams will train 2-3 times per week (90 minutes per session) as well as competing in usually 1 league game per week, some times weekend games are scheduled.
Travel to games is greater in rep soccer as you will play against teams from around this area such as Saltfleet, Burlington, Oakville as well as playing against teams from Niagara falls and Bolton. Rep teams will also enter into the Ontario Cup were they could be drawn against any team in the Province. Rep teams will also attend 3-4 tournaments per summer, some tournaments will involve overnight stays whilst also some would involve traveling to the USA. Attendance at training is important as playing time is not guaranteed at this level. The Out door Rep soccer season usually runs from the beginning of May until late August/early September. Again to make a Rep soccer team players have to tryout and the players will be selected on their ability and commitment. There is an extra cost along with the regular fee and the select fee however, the players will receive club tracksuit and player bags.
