MHYSC believes in creating a positive first experience for all youth players! MHYSC provides our Academy players (U8-U12) with a positive and dynamic learning environment, focusing on Long Term Player Development (LTPD) principles.
A balanced emphasis in each of the Four Corners of Development (technical, physical, social, psychological) places the player at the centre of the process. Players are introduced to the fundamentals of the game that matches the individuals current age and stage of development.
Our carefully designed curriculum and session plans follow the Ontario Soccer Player Development Model (a station-based environment for players to learn fundamental skills through a variety of activities). Players will learn through play, an important part in child development!
MHYSC Academy recognizes that soccer players and athletes develop best when playing other sports at the grassroots level. Throughout the fall/winter, conflicts with other sports will exist and players will miss training or games which MHYSC will work with families to accommodate. What is important is players continue to develop their technical skills throughout the year. The U8-U12 age group is the Golden Age of learning for our youth.

Major League Soccer club expands Satellite Youth Development Programs
Toronto Football Club announced today new affiliations with three more youth clubs in Ontario. These clubs will now be known as Kitchener TFC, Hamilton TFC and DeRo TFC. These clubs join London TFC, Ottawa TFC and Windsor TFC, all of which established affiliations with Toronto FC in the past several years. Toronto FC will work closely with these clubs on player identification and establishing a professional pathway for elite players within the respective clubs.
“We welcome both Kitchener and Hamilton to the TFC family as we continue to enhance our youth affiliations outside the GTA,” stated Toronto FC President Bill Manning. “And, of course collaborating with former TFC icon Dwayne DeRosario and his club in Scarborough is only natural as DeRo becomes the first TFC youth affiliate within the GTA.”
With this affiliation, Kitchener, Mount Hamilton and DeRo TFC will receive technical and tactical direction, fitness guidance and other relevant assistance from members of the Toronto FC Academy staff. In addition, these partnerships will provide a direct pathway to TFC for high potential athletes from these clubs who aspire to become professional players.
“Toronto FC believes these partnerships will be beneficial to all involved,” said Toronto FC Academy Director Anthony Capotosto. “Providing a clear player pathway for the young athletes in Ontario is imperative to the success of our club. We are looking forward to getting to work.”
“It is my pleasure to announce that MHYSC is partnering with TFC,” said Mark Fonovic, President of Mount Hamilton Youth Soccer Club. “The teams from MHYSC and TFC have been working tirelessly to make this partnership come to fruition, TFC is known for their strength in the MLS and we hope to gain valuable player and coach development throughout our partnership.”
The partnership will include development programs for players, with TFC coaches making multiple trips per year to the clubs to provide coaching instruction and technical training. Coaches from all three clubs will also make a number of trips per year to Toronto FC’s BMO Training Ground to observe and learn best practices from TFC’s staff.
“This partnership with Toronto FC will provide our U8/U13 academy players development opportunities during their golden years of development,” said MHYSC’s Technical Director and General Manager Carl Horton. “The affiliate program will also provide coaches at the club with additional opportunities and resources to continue their development.”
