MHYSC believes in creating a positive first experience for all youth players! MHYSC provides our “SELECTS” players (U7-U12) with a positive and dynamic learning environment, focusing on Long Term Player Development (LTPD) principles. The SELECTS program will provide an opportunity for players who would like to participate in more than the recreational program but not make the full commitment to the Academy program.
Players that choose to be a part of the “SELECTS” Program will be provided with an opportunity to train and play for the whole year. During the winter season, “SELECTS Players” will train once per week with the Academy players and receive the opportunity to play in some of the indoor competitive games.
During the summer season, “SELECTS” players will train once per week with their Academy age group, once per week with their recreational team as well as within their recreational weekly game. At times “SELECTS” players will also get the opportunity to play within the Academy games against other clubs from within the district. When they do play for the Academy team, for that week they will forgo their Recreational game that week.
MHYSC recognizes that soccer players and athletes develop best when playing other sports at the grassroots level. Throughout the fall/winter, conflicts with other sports will exist and players will miss training or games which MHYSC will work with families to accommodate. What is important is players continue to develop their technical skills throughout the year. The U8-U12 age group is the Golden Age of learning for our youth.
